VI. Qualifications

Just as happiness can exert a powerful influence over health, health can exert a powerful influence over happiness. Disease, hunger, thirst, fatigue, injury, stress, malnutrition, depression, mental illness and other conditions can make one sad, frightened, and or angry. Returning ones’ emotions to a state of balance where in a sense of well-being, relief, comfort, and happiness may be found might require more than the devotion of energy, space, and time; to a belief in a most optimistic myth about the existence of one totality that produce powerful emotional responses of joy, faith and love. Returning one's emotions to a state of balance might require returning the body to a state of health.

Truth and knowledge of theory based on scientifically reproducible discovery pertains to the knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, creation, and evaluation of laws of cause and effect that predict the behavior, fate, and destiny of matter and energy in the known universe. Our bodies are made up of a portion of the matter and energy in the known universe. Therefore it follows: Laws of cause and effect that predict the behavior, fate, and destiny of matter and energy in the known universe apply to our bodies; and truth and knowledge of theory based on scientifically reproducible discovery should be applied to solving the problems that pertain to achieving and maintaining health.

Myth and fantasy based on what is possible within the realm of mystery pertains to the knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, creation, and evaluation of laws and principles governing the spiritual essence of the existence of one totality. The existence of discovery and the existence of mystery make possible an infinite number, diversity, and variety of myths about the existence of one totality only limited by our creative abilities and powers of imagination. Our optimistic thoughts, beliefs, and expectations about the existence of one totality are believed by scientists to improve our various health behaviors, our immune functions, and our biochemical functions in ways that make our bodies more resistant to illness and better able to recover from existing disease. Therefore it follows: We should apply a belief in the most optimistic myth about the existence of one totality to the task of solving the problems that pertain to a goal; of balancing the emotional forces of our minds; and satisfying our need and aspiration to achieve and maintain happiness. If belief in the most optimistic myth about the existence of one totality is not capable of balancing the emotional forces of our minds; and satisfying our need and aspiration to achieve and maintain happiness; then an underlying health problem may exist; and truth and knowledge of theory based on scientifically reproducible discovery should be applied to the task of identifying, and solving it.

Just as ideas lead to emotional responses and emotional responses lead to physiological responses, so physiological responses lead to emotional responses and then to ideas.
